Wisp Ski Resort – Enjoy the Longest Skiing Season!
The Wisp Ski Resort is located in Western Maryland, and is less than three hours from Washington D.C., Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Wisp resort has a long ski season that lasts from before Thanksgiving till late March. The season is long due to Wisp’s state-of-the-art snowmaking capabilities with computerized weather and pumping stations. The resort’s snowmaking system is one of the largest and most efficient in the world.The Wisp resort offers 32 trails and 132 acres of skiable terrain. These trails are spread between three levels with 10 beginner slopes, 13 intermediate slopes and 9 advanced. Beginner skiers and boarders will like the Possum trail that runs for 1,5 miles from the top to the bottom of the mountain. Skiers looking for the most exciting and adventurous experience will love the fact that 90% of the trails are open for night skiing. The resort is planning to open 44 more acres of terrain soon. For the adventurous skiers, there is also the Savage Half Pipe, Rail Park and the large Ford Built Tough Terrain Park.

Wisp offers a Bear Claw Snow Tubing Park – a nine-lane tubing park with rope tows. This is the place where everyone can take part. Just get in your tube and you are off on an unforgettable ride. The snow tube park has its own snowmaking and grooming machines to ensure uninterrupted fun. Other fun family activities include sleigh rides and snow mobile trips through wonderful pine forests.
One new addition to the resort is the Wisp Resort Nordic Center that offers 50 kilometers of trails of varying difficulty, so you can spend the whole day cross country skiing. For the novices, the center also offers tours and lessons for both adults and children.
Inside the resort there is a full spa. At Sewickly Spa, you can get massages, facials and other relaxing options. If you stay at the resort, you also get free access to the health club, where you can swim, play racquetball or work out. Yoga and Pilates classes are also available for additional fee.
While you are relaxing, you can rest assured your kids are safe and have fun at the Children's Learning Center. At the center, professional instructors will teach your children all they need to know to enjoy skiing or boarding. Classes are divided into three groups. Kids from 3 to 7 years learn basic skiing skills. The mini-riders class is for 6 to 7 year olds who want to learn to snowboard and Club Wisp is meant for 8 to 14 year olds who really want to take their skiing or snowboarding skills to a good level.
If you are staying the night, the Wisp Resort Hotel and Conference Center offers comfortable suits, all rooms coming with a refrigerator, coffee maker, ironing board and hair dryer.
